Former exec sentenced for FTX fraud

Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the theft of approximately $8bn in customer funds from the now-defunct FTX crypto exchange. US District Judge Lewis Kaplan acknowledged her “remarkable cooperation” with prosecutors. Ms Ellison, who pleaded guilty to seven felony counts, expressed deep remorse during the hearing, Her lawyers argued for no prison time, highlighting her co-operation, which was crucial in convicting her former boyfriend, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. He is serving a 25-year sentence for his role in the fraud.
