MPs demand transparency from AI firms

According to a recent poll commissioned by the Publishers Association, a significant majority of MPs are advocating for AI companies to disclose the copyrighted works they utilise and to compensate creators accordingly. The survey revealed that 92% of the 107 MPs polled believe AI firms should inform authors and publishers about the use of their material. Additionally, 79% support the idea of AI companies paying for previously used works. The creative sector, valued at £126bn, argues that proposed legal changes allowing tech firms to use copyrighted works without permission could severely undermine their industry.
