Prison kitchens shut after attack

The Prison Service has decided to suspend kitchen access for high-risk inmates following a violent incident involving Hashem Abedi, a convicted terrorist serving a life sentence for his role in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack. Abedi attacked three prison officers with hot cooking oil and improvised blades, leaving two officers seriously ill in hospital. A female officer was treated and later discharged. The Ministry of Justice is considering making the kitchen ban permanent while police investigate the attack, which may lead to attempted murder charges. A Downing Street spokesperson expressed the Prime Minister’s dismay, stating: “It’s clear that something went terribly wrong in the management of this offender.”
