Legal battle brews over TSB mortgages

In a preliminary ruling, Judge Nicholas Thompsell has determined that TSB bank did not breach the terms of home loan agreements with claimants, who allege they were “mortgage prisoners.” The claimants, represented by Harcus Parker, argue that they were charged inflated interest rates after TSB’s Whistletree subsidiary acquired their loans post-Northern Rock’s 2008 bailout. The case could potentially open claims for around 2,000 other individuals, with the lawsuit valued at up to £75m.
