According to a survey conducted by the law firm Cripps, all 101 women directors and founders interviewed reported experiencing gender bias, with 95% stating it impacted their careers. The research highlighted that women in companies with revenues between £10m and £300m across various sectors, including real estate and technology, faced significant barriers to career advancement. These barriers included challenges such as access to affordable childcare, flexible working arrangements, and equal pay. Victoria Symons, a partner at Cripps, noted: “We have found resource is typically the go-to excuse for many of these mid-sized businesses,” stressing that even small changes can lead to significant improvements. The upcoming Worker Protection Act will require companies to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, further underscoring the need for change in workplace culture.
