In a significant legal move, 500 law firms, including Freshfields, have signed an amicus brief supporting Perkins Coie, which is facing sanctions from President Donald Trump’s administration. The brief warns: “The looming threat posed by the Executive Order at issue in this case… is not lost on anyone practicing law in this country today.” Perkins Coie, along with other affected firms including WilmerHale and Jenner & Block, is challenging the constitutionality of the orders, while some firms have opted for pro bono support in exchange for protection from such sanctions.
