Peter Mandelson has been reported to the Metropolitan Police by the SNP and Reform UK after emails suggest he shared sensitive Government information with Jeffrey Epstein in 2009. The Met confirmed it received reports of alleged misconduct in a public office and will assess them for potential criminal investigation. Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown condemned the allegations as “wholly unacceptable” and called for a public inquiry. He added that he has asked the Cabinet Secretary “to investigate the disclosure of confidential and market sensitive information from the then Business Department during the global financial crisis.” SNP leader Stephen Flynn said: “If such allegations are investigated and proven, it is gravely serious.” Lord Mandelson may also be summoned by the US Congress regarding his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, following revelations from newly released documents which indicate Mandelson received $75,000 from Mr Epstein in 2003/04. Lord Mandelson, then the business secretary, then lobbied ministers on Mr Epstein’s behalf over a proposed tax on bankers’ bonuses. Lord Mandelson argues that he was “too trusting” of Mr Epstein and insists that none of the files “indicate wrongdoing or misdemeanour on my part.”
