Flora Page KC, a barrister known for representing wrongly convicted sub-postmasters, has resigned from the Legal Services Board. She has done so in protest at David Lammy’s proposed reforms to limit jury trials to cases with potential jail sentences over three years. Page argues that these changes will undermine the rule of law and reduce access to justice. She accused Lammy and Sarah Sackman of exploiting victims’ suffering to justify the reforms, going on to argue that the backlog of nearly 80,000 crown court cases was the result of restricted sitting days.
